Vive la France! On July 14, the French celebrate Bastille Day, the national holiday that is celebrated in France and around the world. I had a croissant and a coffee this morning while thinking about how great the  fireworks over the Eiffel Tower always are on this day!

From Cartus’ Paris office, we oversee  our clients’ employees’ moves into and out of France, provide destination services, immigration, and consulting, and now we also offer information on a French language Web site. The new site features an electronic version of a brochure introducing Cartus as well as a “fast facts” document that gives an overview of the company’s staff, office locations, and the value that we bring to clients.

Bastille Day marks the anniversary of the storming of the Bastille prison on July 14, 1789. The prison had been a symbol of the power of King Louis XVI’s Ancien Regime, but in capturing the Bastille, the French people demonstrated that the King no longer had complete control and asserted their right to a share in the government. The storming of the Bastille marked the beginning of the French Revolution and the dawn of the French Republic. One of the many events to mark the occasion is the military parade down the Champs-Elysees in Paris.

Regularly, the parade includes foreign military units. In 2007, Nicolas Sarkozy, the president of France, invited all 26 members of the European Union to join the parade in the form of one military unit, and a German Airborne brigade led the parade.  This year, the invited units were from the French foreign territories of Martinique, Guadeloupe, Reunion Island, Mayotte, New Caledonia, and French Polynesia.

Cartus has a presence in Germany, too! We have an office in Munich and now a Web site in German that also includes the company introduction and fast facts.

We will be adding more documents to these sites in the future. You are invited to check in to see what Cartus is saying, both in French and German.

So long…. or as we say in French … A plus!
